With the new logo development process underway, I've been receiving a number of calls and e-mails asking how the new logo will impact existing university Web sites. While I won't know the specifics until the process is complete, our plan is to make the transition as simple as possible.

After the new logo is approved I will post instructions here, along with links to revised template files and graphics. We will also publish links to the instructions in Case Daily.

As I prepare the new files, I will be making some minor modifications to the templates to simplify use and to add some additional classes that users may find helpful. I am doing this primarily by adding style definitions so that the files will work equally well for existing users as they do for new users. If time allows, I may distribute a CSS version in addition to the updated tables version. I also plan on organizing the files in such a way that you can download either a whole template set or just the specific files that you need. If you have suggestions regarding useful additions to the styles, please submit them below.

In the meantime, please be sure to take part in the university's online logo survey by May 22 to help inform the Branding Task Group and Implementation Committee on what should be the university's visual identity. The survey is open to all members of the campus community.

We'll be using this space to post announcements, tips and tricks regarding web development here at Case. We'll also be relying on you for suggestions, so please don't hesitate to write either Kevin or Heidi with your suggestions regarding this blog.

Tip# 1:

If you are the maintainer of a website, put your name and/or linked e-mail address in your footermenu, so that people with questions about the site can easily contact you. If you have multiple maintainers and can't fit everyone in your footer, then just make sure those people are listed (and easily identified) in a staff directory or similar contact page on your site.

Reminder# 1:

Jeremy asked me to post a list of the web colors. For quick reference they are as follows:

Cranberry #7c2433

Forest #3e775d

Lime #93a530

Navy #003962

Olive #6f7730

Purple #6e5d91

Rust #a96b00

Teal #00646e

Turquoise #037596
