Akismet

Akismet helps protect against spam comments. While it won't catch everything, it usually does a pretty good job. After installing Akismet you will need an a WordPress API key to activate the plug-in. You can get an API key when you set up an account on WordPress.com.

Note: Many hosting providers automatically include Akismet with their easy-install version of WordPress so all you need to do is activate it.
